Westport turns 225 this Summer!

Volunteers Needed

The town is looking for volunteers to help plan Westport’s 225th anniversary celebration this summer. The town’s 225th birthday is on July 2. Plans for the anniversary celebration are still preliminary, but Ouellette said it could include a formal gala and fireworks. The annual Fourth of July parade, only two days later, will also have a town birthday theme.

A committee that will plan the celebration is being put together, with the first meeting likely to be held in February, Selectman Steven Ouellette said. But the committee also needs someone, preferably with fundraising experience, who can seek donations from area businesses without a conflict of interest.

Many officials, such as selectmen, who approve business licenses, would have a conflict asking for donations from local companies.

Anyone interested in helping may contact the selectmen’s office at 508-636-1003, or contact Ouellette at 508-677-0905.
